Nutritional Therapy is a personalised, science-based approach that looks at the underlying causes of symptoms and ill-health, rather than only focusing on the symptoms themselves.
Using nutrition, lifestyle support, and where appropriate, supplements, Nutritional Therapy aims to support the body as a whole.
Every person is different, which is why recommendations are tailored to your individual health concerns, lifestyle, medical history, and goals.
Sessions are designed to give you time to talk through your symptoms properly, helping uncover patterns and areas that may be affecting your health and wellbeing.
Diet and lifestyle can have a major impact on how we feel physically and mentally.
The body can often compensate for poor habits or nutritional imbalances for a long time before symptoms begin to appear. Over time, this can affect energy, digestion, hormones, skin, sleep, mood, and overall wellbeing.
Nutritional Therapy focuses on supporting the body with the nutrients and lifestyle foundations it needs to function well.
Rather than relying on temporary quick fixes, the aim is to identify what may be contributing to symptoms and support lasting improvements.

The first step is a free 30-minute consultation.
This gives you the opportunity to discuss what you are experiencing, ask questions, and explore whether Nutritional Therapy feels right for you. There is no obligation to continue afterwards.
Appointments can be held in person at Acorn Natural Health Centre or online.
If you decide to move forward with support, the process begins with gathering a detailed picture of your health and lifestyle.
This includes:
• a detailed health and medical history questionnaire
• a 7-day food diary based on your normal eating habits
• review of relevant blood test results where available
You will then attend an in-depth consultation where your nutritional plan will be created and explained.
Throughout your Signature Package, sessions are focused on helping you make realistic, sustainable changes over time.
At each session, progress is reviewed and recommendations are adjusted based on how you are responding.
The aim is not perfection, but practical and lasting improvements that fit into your real life.

In some cases, functional testing may be recommended to gain deeper insight into areas such as digestion, hormones, nutrient status, or gut health.
Testing is optional and charged separately where appropriate.
If you are not ready for a longer-term package, a diet diary review is available as a starting point. This can highlight simple, practical improvements to support overall health.
This 12-session programme is suitable for people who want structured, ongoing support with their health.
It may be helpful if you:
• want consistent guidance and accountability
• are managing ongoing health symptoms
• want to make long-term dietary and lifestyle changes
• feel stuck trying to improve your health alone
• want a deeper level of nutritional support

Hi, I’m Jan and I’m a Nutritional Therapist.
My role is to work with you to identify the root causes of your health concerns and symptoms, and to understand how imbalances or deficiencies may be contributing to how you are feeling. I do this by taking a detailed health history and by understanding you as a whole person. I will then create a personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan to help you take control of your own health.
I qualified as a Nutritional Therapist with the College of Naturopathic Medicine in Birmingham, I am a member of The British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine, and a member of the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council.
I first became interested in nutrition and how nutrients can have a positive impact on health when I faced a cancer diagnosis many years ago and used diet and lifestyle alongside conventional medicine as a means to recover my health. So when I was made redundant from a career in the criminal justice system, I used the opportunity to train as a nutritional therapist and help others find solutions to their health concerns too.
What I like most about Nutritional Therapy is that I can help people make significant improvements to their health and wellbeing which is personalised to their needs and can last a lifetime.
We are proud to announce that we have been awarded a SILVER award by Investors in the Environment. A big thank you to all our wonderful staff and clients for helping us to raise the bar and look after our environment even better.
